Student Welfare

Student Welfare Officer is responsible for making arrangements for housing, boarding and welfare of the students and various co-curricular activities other than the academic work. The ultimate objective is to groom the students to become good citizens of country by personality development and skill for better living. The environment and the people around a person leave a great impact on his/her development. The College, therefore, tries to provide its students an excellent academic environment along with good sports and cultural exposure which provide concentration in study to students Sports & Games are places where students exchange their views and motivate themselves for taking positive energy.


  1. 1. To make arrangements for the housing and messing of students.
  2. 2. To arrange program of students counseling.
  3. 3. To supervise the extra-co-curricular activities viz. sports, Adventure, cultural activities and look after the general needs of the students.
  4. 4. To impart various training to the students to improve their overall personality and communication skills for various competitive examinations.
  5. 5. To provide relevant information on various courses, admission procedures and fellowships of financial assistance available for higher studies in India and abroad.
  6. 6. To provide financial assistance to students through awarding state government scholarship.
  7. 7. To establish liaison between students and teachers.
  8. 8. To create facilities for the welfare of the students in coordination with the Dean of the college.
  9. 9. To perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Dean of the college.
  10. Responsibilities of the Student Welfare Officer:

    Main Responsibilities are-

    •  Coordinating the sports and games activity.

    •  Coordinating the activities of culture and co-curricular activities other than sports and games.

    •  Management of hostels-

    •  Assisting the students in training programs.

    •  Identify and encourage students with abilities to participate in State, National and international level events.

    •  Keep the Hostels and campus ragging free with the cumulative efforts from the faculty members.

    •  Surprise visit the hostel with warden or without warden

    •  To examine/i nvestigates, addresses, and resolves problems, grievances, and complaints related to student rights and responsibility and student grievance policies.

    •  Propose, justify, and monitor Student Services budget

    •  Responsibility for student events such as Orientation Day, Exhibition & other recognition activities

    •  Performs all other student services functions, and other related duties as assigned by the Dean

    •  To ascertain what further student welfare facilities are needed, how best they can be provided and make suggestions for their establishment.

    •  To facilitate, traveling by students going to their homes during the semester break and to undertake study tours in different parts of India, railway concession orders are arranged for them.

•  Celebration of National Festival: Independence Day, Republic Day etc. are celebrated in a befitting manner.

  • Management of hostels- Hostel management is an important administrative function coupled with academics in college. A good Hostel and proper environment can be treated as “Home away from Home” or the second home for the students. The officials responsible for running the Hostels should act as a friend, philosopher and guide to the boarders in the Hostels. College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology, Ranipool, Gangtok (Sikkim) have three hostels which are under the administrative control of the Dean Administration and works through the wardens


    Hostel facility

    The college campus has got three hostels viz. two Boys' and one Girls' hostels with each capacity of 90, 56 and 55 respectively. Mess facility is available in each hostel and messes are runned on cooperative basis. The students themselves manage these messes. The students constitute the mess Committees and make arrangement for all the eatables with the assistance of hostel staff. However, the utensils, crockery, refrigerators and other facilities etc.  are provided by the College. The newspapers and magazines are provided in each hostel. However respective wardens strictly monitor / maintain the hostel disciplines. All the students must adhere and abide by the hostel rules and regulations.
